Only a week since the last visit!

Keeping up the weekly visits so far! Tidied up the potato beds with rake and hoe today and harvested a bit more rhubarb. It really is so much nicer than the stuff you buy at Sainburys!

Spring is here. Yay!

We dug some compost out of the composter at home today. I was surprised at how much there was and how good quality it was. The slugs will just hate all those eggshells.

We decided to cover the front quarter of the plot after adding the compost and the contents of last year's grow bags to it. I re-fixed the cover to the front part of the plot in an attempt to keep out the light so that all the grass on that bit might die. We'll plant some courgettes through the black cloth later in the year.

Gordon dug some impressive trenches for the potatoes and we planted 3 types of potatoes - as you face the plot, two rows front-to-back of each of: Milva (early); Bambino (early salad); and Golden Wonder (late baker).

We also took home some rhubarb - the first crop we have had from the plants we started from seed last year. It was very yummy, stewed with sugar.
