Another visit today, in the rain. I strimmed around the edges of the plot and took up the mypex that was covering the front section. It was not too weedy under it although there were plenty around the edges. Dandelions abound again this year and they have horrible huge tap-roots!
I raked in the compost from yesterday and give the front bed a good rake-over. I put all the waste from yesterday into bags ready to take to the tip. Finally I planted some rocket, some lettuce and some cabbages.

Getting 2012 started!
I visited the plot today after quite a few months. It was not in a bad state at all but needed some weeding. I look up a wheelbarrow full of compost from the home composter and will dig that in to the ground where I'll be growing lettuces and brassicas this year. I've also got some seeds for yellow courgettes and some rocket.
Last year the gooseberries got eaten by birds so I have made a frame around the bush with canes and tied netting over it. I hope this will fix the problem. I had a good weed around the bottom of the bush and have put some mypex around it to stop weed growth.
The second bed was open all year last year so a bit weedy. I've given it a very intensive weed and it's looking much better now, ready for planting this years seeds and plants.

Weeding and hacking down the Horseradish
I just made a quick visit today and did some more weeding and digging. I've also cut down the horseradish as it is completely out of control!
